Literature survey and futuristic research approach on floriculture: Bougainvillea

Extensive research already done worldwide has generated all basic knowledge on all important floricultural crops covering multidisciplinary aspects. The majority of present experiments on ornamentals are being repeated as routine activities despite noteworthy technological advances. It is now very important to evaluate the entire past and present results on individual crops and to prepare future need-based planning on research topics. The present article illustrates the progress of research on different aspects of Bougainvillea from its beginning to its present status. This will help to formulate future research programs on Bougainvillea on a need basis considering the changing preferences and thrust areas of floriculture. Few target-based research aspects have been elaborated to achieve the desired results within a reasonable time.
