摘要

Introduction

There is an increasing recognition for local strategies in managing metastatic breast cancer. This case report shows the potential role of ablative trans-arterial radioembolization in a patient with liver metastasis.

Case presentation

A 66-year-old female patient with oligoprogressive breast cancer presented with progressive intra-hepatic disease. She underwent trans-arterial radioembolization with an ablative approach (200 Gy) for liver metastasis in segment VII and VIII. The patient had minimal side-effects and resumed chemotherapy one month post-treatment. A persisting complete response was achieved after 3 years of follow-up.

Conclusion

This case report highlights the efficacy of ablative trans-arterial radioembolization in treating liver metastases from breast cancer.
