A balancing act: falling versus aging
摘要
The world population is increasing and a significant factor behind this is longevity; a fallout of this is the heightening burden on healthcare. In particular, the increasing tendency to fall with age puts a toll on the society and hinders people from enjoying their sunset years. This perspective scrutinizes the underlying causes behind people’s deteriorating ability to balance as they age and presents a review of existing ad hoc mitigation measures. It concludes by shedding some light on the way forward to further the realization of well-balanced healthier and successful aging with minimal tendency to fall.
