Joint pain is a common problem during menopause and accompanies the classic symptoms such as hot flashes, urogenital complaints, and mood swings. The differential diagnoses around menopause are numerous and diverse, as this phase of a woman’s life has a high prevalence of rheumatic diseases. This article addresses the characteristics and treatment of arthralgia during menopause, discusses differential diagnoses, and suggests first-line investigations. Selected conditions from the multitude of differential diagnoses are also briefly explained.
