A comprehensive bibliometric analysis of punching shear failures in flat slabs

Flat slabs face significant structural challenges because of punching shear failure. The mechanism by which flat slabs fail through punching shear has received considerable attention through experimental and computational research but needs a thorough review of global investigations and methods development. The study analyzes research literature about flat slab punching shear weaknesses by examining its publication growth since 2015 and recognizing China along with England and Portugal as top producing research centers. The research shows traditional experimental methods persist but advanced computational models are growing in use especially when studying fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforced slabs because conventional methods fall short. This research adds value through two key innovations which consist of both mapping punching shear research at a quantitative level and establishing relationships between contemporary predictive techniques and their research domain. Modern computational intelligence merges with traditional structural engineering through this research which provides a comprehensive perspective for academic pursuit and engineering practice. Research findings will help produce more dependable predictive tools which lead to stronger resilient construction infrastructure.
