First documented record of the Dalmatian mane jellyfish, Drymonema dalmatinum Haeckel, 1880 (Scyphozoa, Semaeostomeae), in Greek waters

Jellyfish play a critical role in marine ecosystems, influencing primary productivity and supporting diverse ecological functions. However, despite their recognized ecological significance, many species, including the lesser-known taxa like Drymonema, remain understudied, revealing a substantial gap in our understanding of their ecological roles and impacts. Here, we document the first recorded sighting of the Dalmatian mane jellyfish, Drymonema dalmatinum, in Greek waters. This observation, dating to 2015, emphasizes the species' limited presence in the eastern Mediterranean and highlights the need for further research into the factors influencing its distribution.
