The role of women in executive positions and their voice in policymaking in a developing nation

This study examines the role of women in executive positions and their impact on promoting the representation of women’s voices in policy-making in Ghana, a developing. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from the population of interest, including women in executive positions, policymakers, and other stakeholders. 468 valid responses were used in the data processing and analysis using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). Drawing on feminist theory, the findings supported the propositions of the four hypotheses. The results show that representation of women in executive positions, perceived barriers to women’s advancement, personal experience with Gender diversity, and suggestions for improving gender diversity have a positive relationship with Women’s representation in Policymaking. The results showed that women in executive positions played a critical role in promoting gender equality in policy-making by prioritizing the needs and perspectives of women in their decision-making.
