It also delves into Syria's critical role in China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and its status as a major logistical hub. Furthermore, it considers how Syria can facilitate the expansion of the Chinese economy while promoting its economic revitalization, particularly in sectors such as infrastructure, telecommunications, and energy, in line with both countries' strategic policies of 'Look East' (Syria) and 'Look West' (China) within Syria's broader four-seas strategy. The study looks into China's role in the 2011 Syrian conflict, including mediation efforts, humanitarian aid to Damascus, and intentions to contribute to the country's reconstruction programs through the BRI. It also sheds light on how the recent fall of Bashar al-Assad in Syria in 2024 could impact the dynamics of the China-Syria relationship.
