摘要

Neck pain is a common reason for consultation in general practice. In the majority of cases, history taking and physical examination reveal no evidence of a structural cause. Further diagnostic testing is usually unnecessary, and the neck pain can accordingly be classified as non-specific. Therapeutically, the focus is on activating the patient. To support continued movement, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and self-application of heat can be recommended. Patient education is also effective, particularly for explaining the benefits and low risks of physical activity in relation to pain and function. Passive treatment methods should only be used in combination with activating interventions.
