Background <p>Chain hospitals, as integrated networks of healthcare facilities, offer potential solutions for improving service efficiency and quality in developing countries. However, their implementation in Iran faces significant challenges due to regulatory, managerial, and financial constraints. This study aims to identify the key preconditions for the successful establishment of chain hospitals in Iran and to provide a strategic framework applicable to similar healthcare systems.</p> Methods <p>A qualitative study was conducted using semi-structured interviews with 15 healthcare experts, selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis, following Braun and Clarke’s framework. To ensure validity and reliability, the study adhered to Lincoln and Guba’s criteria, including credibility, dependability, confirmability, and transferability.</p> Results <p>The analysis identified six critical themes necessary for chain hospital implementation:Strategic Management – Establishing a unified vision, structured governance, and coordinated service delivery, Resource Management – Standardizing human resources, financial planning, and material allocation, Performance Optimization – Implementing standardized clinical workflows, benchmarking hospital performance, and ensuring service efficiency, Information Management – Developing centralized electronic health records and integrated hospital data systems,Clinical Process Management – Aligning clinical protocols, optimizing patient care workflows, and fostering medical collaboration and Political Support and Governance – Securing governmental and stakeholder backing, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting public trust.</p> Conclusion <p>The findings highlight the strategic, managerial, and operational factors necessary for chain hospital success in Iran. Effective policy reforms, resource allocation, and stakeholder collaboration are essential to overcoming barriers. The proposed framework offers a roadmap for policymakers and healthcare administrators seeking to establish efficient, scalable hospital networks in resource constrained settings. </p>

Background

Chain hospitals, as integrated networks of healthcare facilities, offer potential solutions for improving service efficiency and quality in developing countries.
