A hybrid air-thermosiphon cooling system for thermal management of sealed electrical panels
摘要
The reliable operation and longevity of electrical panels depend on effective thermal management. While common solutions like open-cycle fans provide cooling, they leave internal components vulnerable to dust and other contaminants. To address this, we developed a novel closed-cycle system that combines a U-shaped duct, an internal fan, and a strategic array of thermosiphons. This integrated design creates a self-contained airflow that actively extracts heat while fully sealing the panel from the external environment. Through both experimental testing and CFD analysis, we show that this hybrid solution achieves a remarkably even temperature profile and eliminates dangerous hot spots. Crucially, the system reduces the peak equipment temperature from 117 °C to just 42 °C, ensuring all components operate safely within the manufacturer’s limits. This thermal control extends equipment lifetime by up to 23 times for critical components, providing a robust, energy-efficient solution ready for industrial application.
