Lessons Learned from a Human Rabies Breakthrough Infection: A Rare Case Report

Breakthrough infection of rabies is rarely reported. And it is difficult to make a definite diagnosis of rabies for patients with atypical clinical manifestations. Here we report a rabies breakthrough infection who presented atypical clinical manifestations. The diagnosis of rabies was confirmed by the detection of rabies virus in cerebrospinal fluid by metagenomics next-generation sequencing (mNGS).
