<p>This case study explores the development, implementation, and impact of the Oklahoma Professional Development Registry (OPDR), a statewide system designed to collect, manage, and utilize data on the early care and education (ECE) workforce. In a field often characterized by fragmented data systems and inconsistent standards, OPDR is a good example for how registries can support workforce development, inform policy, and enhance service delivery. Drawing on interviews, document analysis, and historical data, this study examines how OPDR evolved over nearly three decades—from a voluntary credentialing tool to a comprehensive, integrated platform serving child care workforce, educators, professional development providers, and policymakers. This case study highlights OPDR’s role in streamlining data collection, supporting professional growth, and enabling data-driven decision-making. Lessons learned and recommendations are provided for other states seeking to build or strengthen their own registries, with an emphasis on communication, system integration, staffing, and sustainability.</p>
