Investigating Indonesian graduate business students’ generative artificial intelligence readiness and usage in the classroom
摘要
The development and adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly generative AI that can create a wide variety of data, are gaining more traction as more institutions turn to AI to augment their core business. The goal of this study is to determine the readiness of Indonesian graduate business students to utilize generative AI and explore the various ways AI can be employed to enhance the learning process. A total of 112 graduate students were surveyed to assess their readiness to use generative AI and to explore the various ways they have utilized AI, both inside and outside the classroom. Findings indicate that the majority of graduate students have also utilized generative AI, both inside and outside the classroom. Finding definitions, helping with word processing, and doing business calculations are the three top uses of generative AI by graduate students. Graduate students’ self-reported expertise in using AI tools is lower than their reported command of office software. Graduate students with less than three years of work experience reported a higher aptitude for using AI software than those with longer work experience. An implication for practice is that institutions need to create an environment in which AI use is carefully regulated, allowing it to be used by both faculty members and students.
