Landscape of AI literacy in education: approaches, impacts, and challenges for student preparedness—a narrative review

This narrative review explores the evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy in education. It examines current literature to identify common approaches to AI literacy development, its perceived impacts on students' technological preparedness and professional competencies, and the challenges encountered across various educational levels. The review synthesizes observations from a range of academic papers, highlighting key themes such as the importance of hands-on experience, ethical considerations, interdisciplinary strategies, and the differing needs of students from K-12 to higher and professional education. By providing an overview of existing research, this review aims to offer insights into the opportunities and complexities associated with fostering AI literacy and preparing students for an AI-driven future.
