Future trends and challenges for citizenship’s digital literacy research: a bibliometric analysis
摘要
Digital literacy is a critical factor influencing citizens' discernment in the digital era. This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis to identify the future trends and challenges for citizenship’s digital literacy. A search in Scopus using the topics (title, abstract, and keyword) “digital literacy” and “citizenship”, filtered by the years 2002 to 2024, English language, journal source type, and article document type, resulted in a total of 119 articles that met the criteria. The data visualisation and assessment in this study were conducted using a multi-tool assortment of visualisation tools, such as CiteSpace, Tableau and VOSviewer. The findings of the bibliometric analysis identified 3 future trends (digital citizenship’s competencies, digital literacy education, and digital mental and emotional) and 3 challenges (digital ethics and safety, digital divide and equality, and digital education) for citizenship’s digital literacy research.
