Factors influencing self-confidence among adolescents and children across the globe: a systematic review

The aim of the study was to conduct a systematic review in order to synthesize the evidence-based literature on factors influencing self-confidence among adolescents and children across the globe studies were identified through searches of electronic databases (Scopus, Pub Med, ERIC, Web of Science, Shodhganga, Google scholar and Research gate). Articles published between Ist January 2000 to 31 October, 2020, were added by the authors. The inclusion criteria have been met by Thirty-three (33) articles. The studies emphasize that adolescent’s and children’s lack of confidence is a common problem that is influenced by a number of factors, such as their families, schools, peers, the media, and communities. The findings demonstrated that the research had various objectives and approaches, and only 33 articles discussed how various aspects associated to confidence are influenced. Based on data from a prior review, anxiety and self-esteem are the main elements influencing children's and adolescents' self-confidence worldwide. The influence of parental style, especially authoritative is crucial in boosting the self-confidence of children and adolescents. The self-esteem of senior school students is lower than that of middle school and college students, according to investigative statistics of teenage students in 31 Chinese regions. This phenomenon is currently taking place in China as a result of an upsurge in psychological issues related to adolescents' self-esteem in the contemporary era, such as social anxiety disorder, aggressive behaviour, and psychological insecurity brought on by unsatisfactory relationships with family and friends. Research has examined how familial characteristics, such as parental care, impact teenagers' self-esteem levels in order to explain a variety of low self-esteem issues. This study examines and assesses the primary factors associated with the self-confidence of adolescents and children students worldwide.
