Phase Evolution and Magnetic Characteristics of CoNiFeCrX (Cu, Al, Mo, Ti, and Pb) High Entropy Alloys

摘要

The present work examined the phase evolution and magnetic behaviors of CoNiFeCrX (Pb, Mo, Ti, Cu, and Al) high entropy alloys prepared through mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering (SPS). The prepared samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and vibrating sample magnetometer. Based on results, all CoNiFeCrX (Pb, Mo, Ti, Cu, and Al) high entropy alloys exhibited ferromagnetic behavior with saturation magnetization in the range of 50–90 emu/g. The coercivity values of bulk CoNiFeCrX (Cu, Al, Mo, Ti, and Pb) samples were in the range of 120–130 Oe, which can be classified as semi-hard magnetic property. Among all compositions studied, the CoNiFeCrCu alloy exhibited the best soft magnetic properties with the saturation of magnetization and coercivity of about 89 emu/g and 124 Oe, respectively.
