Background <p>Parents/caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) normally experience obstacles in obtaining timely, effective interventions. With the growing accessibility to digital technology, e-health interventions have emerged as a solution to assist caregivers of autistic children. This systematic review aimed to identify the e-health interventions available for parents or caregivers of children with autism and to assess the potential benefits of these interventions for caregivers and children.</p> Methods <p>Electronic databases, IEEE Xplore, PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect were searched systematically for research that assessed E-health interventions for parents/caregivers of children with ASD published between 2000 and 2023. 15 articles that satisfied the predetermined inclusion criteria were included in this review. A narrative synthesis of the findings was carried out because of the variation in study designs, intervention mode, and outcomes measured in the included studies.</p> Results <p>The interventions for parents of ASD in the included studies were web-based, Tele-based, and also mobile app-based designed for different outcomes. The results confirms that E-Interventions improved communication and social engagement in children with ASD. For caregivers, the interventions increased parental satisfaction, and knowledge, reduced parental stress and enhanced parental efficacy.</p> Conclusion <p>The effect of e-health interventions targeting parents/caregivers of autistic children was beneficial for both parent and children with ASD. However, limitation in diverse participant populations and methodological variability and short follow up period was observed in current evidences. Future research is required to examine e-interventions that emphasize long-term outcomes and holistic child development, employing rigorous study methods and diverse populations.</p>

Background

Parents/caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) normally experience obstacles in obtaining timely, effective interventions.
