Introduction <p>Angiography in children with heart disease is associated with significant maternal anxiety due to their unfamiliarity with the procedure. This anxiety can cause psychological distress in mothers and affect the quality of care for the child. We aimed to investigate the effect of a video-based virtual tour on anxiety in mothers of children undergoing angiography.</p> Methods <p>This semi-experimental study was conducted on mothers of children who were candidates for angiography. Simple sampling was performed (30 for each group). The data collection tools were a demographic profile and the Spielberger questionnaire. A virtual tour to familiarize the angiography process, including a demonstration of the environment, equipment, how to perform it, and pre-and post-angiography care in simple language, was shown to the testgroup during a 12-minute session, and in the control group, training was conducted according to the previous procedure (post-operative care, feeding, and restriction of the child’s movement). The level of anxiety on the day before angiography and immediately after training was compared between the test and control groups using SPSS version 22 software.</p> Results <p>Before the intervention, the mean scores of general, state, and trait anxiety did not differ significantly between the test and control groups (<i>P</i> &lt; 0.05). After the intervention, the state anxiety score, in the test and control groups, did not differ significantly (<i>P</i> = 0.26), but trait anxiety (<i>P</i> = 0.01) and general anxiety (<i>P</i> = 0.03) decreased significantly in the test group. In the test group, the mean scores of general anxiety(<i>P</i> = 0.004), state (<i>P</i> = 0.0001), and trait (<i>P</i> = 0.0001) decreased significantly after the intervention compared to before. The scores of the first and second sessions in the control group in terms of general anxiety, state anxiety, and trait anxiety did not differ significantly before and after research(<i>P</i> &lt; 0.05).</p> Conclusion <p>The present study showed that virtual tour-based education could be significantly effective in reducing anxiety in mothers of children undergoing angiography. Therefore, we suggest educating family members as an appropriate strategy alongside all therapeutic and supportive measures to improve the quality of life of patients and families.</p>
