摘要

This study examined the impact of managerial myopia on employee unethical pro-organizational behavior (UPB) through a serial mediation process. Drawing from the social cognitive theory, this study proposed that managerial myopia influences employees’ UPB through employee myopia and core self-evaluation (CSE), whereas, performance goal orientation (PGO) moderates these relationships. Data were collected from 245 Chinese employees using a two-month time-lagged survey. Results of hypotheses testing found that managerial myopia was associated with employees UPB via employee’s myopia and core-self-evaluation and this relationship was moderated by PGO such that UPB is enhanced when PGO is high and reduced when it is low. The link between managerial myopia and UPB through employees’ myopia alone was stronger providing support for Bandura’s social cognitive theory and have useful theoretical implication on psychology and organizational behavior since it suggests that employees will adopt specific managerial behavior which has implications on the organization. Limitations of this study and suggestions for future research are outlined.
