摘要

The S3 guideline ‘Pit and fissure sealing' (PFS) was recently updated and included for the first time aspects of PFS in patients affected by molar–incisor hypomineralisation (MIH). The aim of this article was to present the current state of knowledge on PFS in MIH molars. To answer the initially consented key question, the literature was systematically searched and analysed in detail. As a result, seven reviews and five clinical studies that met the inclusion criteria were identified. Due to the few available clinical studies, the existing heterogeneity and the overall low level of evidence, there was only a strong consensus that PFS can—in principle—be used on MIH molars. However, these limitations precluded a stronger level of recommendation as well as more detailed recommendations regarding the clinical procedure. Therefore, comprehensive scientific studies are necessary in order to improve the clinical knowledge for PFS on MIH molars.
