Überlegungen zur zahnmedizinischen Betreuung von zu Hause lebenden pflegebedürftigen Senioren
摘要
In an aging society, ensuring oral health is a growing challenge. The reasons for this are (1) the number of senior citizens requiring care and the duration of this phase of life are increasing, (2) many senior citizens wish to be cared for in their home environment, (3) they have more of their own teeth and fixed restorations, and (4) as a result, daily oral hygiene at home is more complicated and may no longer be able to be performed independently with the appropriate quality. Dentists are increasingly offering home visits to support senior citizens in a needs-orientated manner. The aim is to maintain oral health despite health limitations by providing close, professional support. The prerequisite for this is that a healthy condition exists as a basis on which maintenance therapy can begin. Progressive multimorbidity can lead to a change in patients' prioritization of dental visits from prevention-orientated to complaint-orientated and reduce their ability to cope with dental treatment. It is therefore advantageous if care is future-orientated in good time. Maintaining healthy oral conditions requires support from the carer for daily oral hygiene and from the dental team for close dental check-ups with professional, risk-oriented maintenance therapy. In future, adequate supportive dental care will require more attention and capacity as well as further developed concepts; above all, contact with the dental practice must not be lost.
