Regenerative Verfahren in der Endodontie

The pulp-dentin complex of teeth not only plays an important formative role during tooth and root development, but also fulfills important defensive, nutritive, and sensory functions afterwards. If a tooth is damaged during the growth phase by trauma, caries, or preparation, it can lead to pulp necrosis and consequently to a halt in root growth. By using bioactive materials, teeth with incomplete root growth can be treated endodontically with apical barrier techniques. Alternatively, there are innovative approaches such as “revitalization“ to restore the pulp-dentin complex and thus, ideally, to initiate the progression of root growth. This involves the induction of bleeding by manipulating the periapical tissues, resulting in a blood clot that serves as a scaffold for the formation of new tissue.
