Zahnanomalien bei Kindern und Jugendlichen in der Front

  • Richard Steffen

摘要

Patients with one or more congenitally missing teeth are frequently encountered in dental practice. A missing tooth, especially in the front, can be associated with considerable functional, esthetic, and psychosocial problems. The situation is somewhat simpler when there are too many teeth. Here, extraction can usually solve the problem. This article provides a brief overview of the prevalence of dental hypo- and hyperdontia as well as the clinical features and treatment options of the condition with reference to various clinical case reports. A multi- and interdisciplinary approach is usually required to facilitate a timely diagnosis and appropriate planning and treatment, which is not always easy, and to optimize patient care. It is crucial that the dental treatment team is aware of the clinical features and treatment options for anterior tooth hyper- and hypodontia.
