Dental rehabilitation or oral surgical treatment under general anesthesia is a valuable addition to everyday paediatric dental treatment. In addition to a comprehensive assessment, the indication requires risk stratification and provision of full information to the parents/guardians (informed consent). In addition, optimal framework conditions (in terms of personnel, space, and equipment) should be available for a paediatric dental procedure under outpatient or inpatient general anesthesia. These relate to the pre-, peri- and postoperative requirement to ensure a complication-free procedure.
