<p>Pain management at Vienna General Hospital was evaluated by measuring prevalence. The results show significant progress in pain management. Based on a&#xa0;comprehensive analysis, the study provides insights into the prevalence of pain and process quality in patients treated as inpatients and outpatients in day clinics. With a&#xa0;moderate reduction in pain prevalence and a&#xa0;significant improvement in pain documentation and pain management processes, the study emphasizes the effectiveness of evidence-based implementation projects. Despite positive developments, challenges remain, particularly in the documentation of nonpharmacological measures and time resources for patient counselling. This article examines the methodology, results and options for further improving the quality of care.</p>
