<p>The ideal anaesthesia procedure should master the balancing act between maximum patient safety, economic efficiency and a&#xa0;lack of ecological impact. We still have three basic procedures at our disposal: inhalation anaesthesia, total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) and regional anaesthesia. Their ecological strengths and weaknesses, taking into account the first two points, are examined in this article.</p>
