Non-invasive Device for Continuous Measurement of Brain Oxygen Supply Demand Using Near-Infrared Spectroscopy

Monitoring brain oxygen supply and demand is crucial for assessing cerebral perfusion and oxygenation in various medical conditions. This study presents a non-invasive device for continuous measurement of brain oxygen supply demand using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). The device incorporates NIRS sensors placed on the neck side to measure Jugular venous oxygen saturation (SJVO2) and Carotid saturation (SaO2) calculates key parameters related to brain oxygen supply and demand. By providing real-time and continuous monitoring, this device offers valuable information for clinical decision-making and intervention strategies. The feasibility and performance of the device were evaluated through validation studies, demonstrating its potential as a valuable tool for non-invasive monitoring of brain oxygen supply demand in critical care, surgical procedures, and other medical settings. The device represents a significant advancement in the field of cerebral oxygenation monitoring, offering a non-invasive alternative to invasive procedures and facilitating timely interventions to optimize patient outcomes.
