Über Erfahrung und ihren orientierenden Wert
摘要
The concept of experience is a basic philosophical concept and the question of its value is one of the fundamental philosophical questions. It is undisputed that experience has both an epistemic and a practical value, because experience can be understood on the one hand as a way of knowing something and on the other hand we learn through experience how to act in the world. In this essay, I will make two related claims plausible: I will show that experience can be valuable to us in yet another way. It gives us orientation with regard to the question of how we can lead our lives—the orienting value of experience. Second, I will show how the concept of orientation can be used to make the social character of the concept of experience more visible.
