Impact of community education intervention on community capability wellbeing among women, farmers and youths in Vaijapur Village, Karnataka, India

Enhancing Capability Wellbeing through Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) strategically aims to improve Stability, Attachment, Autonomy, Achievement, and Enjoyment at both individual and community levels, and set a path towards sustainable community development. This study examined the effectiveness of community education interventions in enhancing capability well-being among women, farmers, and youths. The sample included (n) = 210 participants aged 20 to 50 years (Mean = 39.58, SD = 11.47). The intervention produced significant improvements across all five domains of capability well-being. Stability scores increased from pre-test (M = 8.28, SD = 1.66) to post-test (M = 11.08, SD = 1.68), t (219) = 48.40, p < .001, followed Attachment improved from pre-test (M = 1.28, SD = 0.46) to post-test (M = 1.32, SD = 0.49), t (219) = 2.87, p < .01, Autonomy rose from pre-test (M = 2.00, SD = 0.39) to post-test (M = 2.93, SD = 0.38), t (219) = 40.84, p < .001, while Achievement increased from pre-test (M = 1.48, SD = 0.50) to post-test (M = 2.41, SD = 0.57), t (219) = 44.58, p < .001 and Enjoyment scores also showed a marked rise from pre-test (M = 2.31, SD = 0.48) to post-test (M = 3.10, SD = 0.47), t (219) = 26.82, p < .001. The community education interventions effectively enhanced the capability wellbeing through a supportive and conducive environment mobilized in the village. The intervention also contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 3, ensuring a good health and well-being pathway for sustainable community development.
