摘要

This research attempts to analyse the role, study the impact, and set the priorities of the identified 24 enablers driving sustainable manufacturing through modern-day digital technologies (DTs) and lean manufacturing (LM) system enablers in the manufacturing industry. The study encompasses 8 DTs, 16 LM enablers, and 5 manufacturing-related UN sustainable development goals (SDGs). The methodology includes the application of a structured literature review (SLR), Interpretive Structural Methodology (ISM) enablers, and the Analytic Network Process (ANP) to set the priorities for a sustainable technology-driven manufacturing for future. The 4 enablers from analysis were: Culture of continuous improvement (CCI), Total productive maintenance (TPM), Internet of Things (IOT), and Big Data Analytics (BDA) contributing to the attainment of key manufacturing led SDGs: SDGs 12 and 13 in the manufacturing domain. The basic lean principle of CCI (people excellence) leads the list, highlighting the continued importance of lean fundamentals followed by TPM (high asset utilisation) as the high investments in hardware in the digital manufacturing will push for high asset utilisation. This research study is expected to trigger today’s stakeholder in manufacturing to focus on the apt DTs and LM enablers in the attainment of the SDG targets. The study has also proposed the application of the quantified SMH (Sustainable manufacturing health) index to track the progress in this journey of manufacturing sustainability.
