摘要

Urban development without corresponding rural development is unsustainable, as focusing on one side alone creates unequal opportunities. Understanding how people perceive rural-urban linkages (RUL) is therefore essential for balanced development. This study explores the perception of RUL in Oromia, Ethiopia, with a focus on Sebata Sub-city and its periphery. Data were collected from 368 household surveys, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions, using a mix of random and purposive sampling. An ordinal logistic regression model was employed for analysis. The results indicate that education, annual income, landholding, and job availability positively influence perceptions of RUL, while distance and household head age exert negative effects. Strengthening these linkages requires policies that expand educational opportunities, create jobs, increase income, and support land productivity. Additionally, reducing travel distance through improved infrastructure and ensuring the inclusion of older households are critical to enhancing participation in rural-urban interactions.
