<p>Amid the rapid evolution of automation, understanding its role in fostering decent work remains an essential yet underexplored area of research. Even with its significance, a notable scarcity of review papers focuses the need to consolidate existing knowledge in this domain. This review article addresses this gap by reviewing the role of automation in promoting decent work through the lens of the ADO-TCM framework. It investigates antecedents, decisions, and outcomes (ADO) while exploring the theories, contexts, and methods (TCM) that underpin current research. Grounded on SPAR-4-SLR approach the review identifies significant geographical and sectoral disparities, with Europe and Asia dominating the discourse, leaving underrepresented regions and creative industries largely overlooked. Major gaps include insufficient focus on inclusivity, workers' rights, and the integration of sustainability into automation strategies. Concluding with a robust research agenda, this study emphasizes the importance of inclusive governance, sustainability-cantered frameworks, and interdisciplinary approaches to advance automation’s contribution to equitable, innovative, and productive work environments.</p>
