摘要

This study is focused on creating a suggested approach to support the survival of Nigerian households facing food waste management challenges while striving towards the drive for sustainable food availability embedded in SDG 2 in Nigeria. The study is anchored on the Systems theory, which explains the interconnection of the multi-dimensional approach to achieving SDG2. The study adopted a conceptual approach, relying on extant literature to explore the challenge of household food waste management among the working-class in Nigeria. The study’s contribution is the developed suggested model for improvement on the identified challenges of household food waste management and the pursuit of SDG2 in Nigeria. The findings of this study show that the task of addressing household waste management requires the involvement of a stream of stakeholders who are either involved or affected by the challenges associated with waste management among Nigerian working-class households. This validates the choice of systems theory in this study as it guided the discussion on the connectivity platform and structural functioning of these stakeholders in addressing the identified challenges of household waste management, especially among Nigerian working-class households.
