<p>This study aims to examine the implementation of sustainable innovation in start-up enterprises through the lens of a dynamic capability perspective. Specifically, it investigates how start-ups manage their resources, processes, and capabilities throughout their growth trajectory. The application of this framework in the context of sustainability is particularly significant, given that dynamic capabilities and sustainability practices are context-dependent. A single case study employing longitudinal analysis is utilized to examine how start-ups acquire resources, manage processes, and develop capabilities across various stages of their evolution. A start-up operating within the beauty and personal care products sector in Indonesia was selected based on theoretical sampling. The startup has exhibited rapid growth and has emerged as one of the fastest-growing startups in the country. A longitudinal observation has been conducted since the company’s establishment in 2014. Our findings suggest that start-ups require a distinct set of resources, capabilities, and strategies at each growth phase. A firm’s ability to develop capabilities is determined by internal resources and the successful acquisition of external resources. While this research provides longitudinal insights into the development of sustainable innovation as a source of competitiveness, it does not assess the resultant level of innovativeness. Future research could address this gap by examining this issue.</p>
