摘要

Often seen as a potential alternative to address a current climate crisis and sustainability challenges, the circular economy (CE) adoption by the global socioeconomic system has been analysed in its transition process for its influence on cultural changes, which could be considered as of a paradigmatic nature. Despite this magnitude, no in-depth exclusive examination of the paradigm status for CE is available in the literature. This paper proposes perspectives for deeper analyses of the issue drawn from a comprehensive review of studies on correlated fields and knowledge domains. As a critical epistemological essay, its inquiry focuses on complexity and complex thought, for their intrinsic character in theoretical and operational issues of CE study and practice. Concentrating on Edgar Morin’s concepts, for their most advanced perspectives, the reflections presented here offer avenues for further scientific examination and critical thinking about answers to the question posed as the title to this study.
