<p>Current apparel labeling systems fail to support circular economy practices, particularly in post-consumer phases. This study proposes an extended environmental labeling framework that integrates a standardized digital Product ID, enabling the provision of traceable, dynamic, and actionable information on garment composition, recyclability, environmental impacts, and disposal options. Based on a systematic literature review and field observations in São Paulo retail stores and international textile innovation fairs, the research identifies systemic gaps, including limited information on blended fiber recycling, microfiber release, and take-back logistics, as critical obstacles to textile circularity. The study explores the potential of Direct-to-Fabric (DTF) printed QR codes and suggests the use of linked platforms to provide access to verified environmental data. A set of labeling guidelines is proposed, detailing the environmental data fields required to guide purchasing decisions and broader consumer behavior, as well as to support regulatory compliance. The findings indicate that a digitally integrated labeling system can enhance recyclability assessment, increase consumer awareness, and strengthen policy frameworks aligned with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12.</p>
