<p>The bioeconomy offers a transformative framework to address environmental, social, and economic challenges while advancing sustainable development goals across various policy domains. This article explores the potential of Colombia’s bio-based industrial activities to drive a transition in the country’s productive structure and intermediate consumption patterns through an Input-Output analysis. The study applies methodologies such as characterizing an intermediate consumption matrix for key bio-based activities, calculating Leontief multipliers, identifying sectoral linkages, and simulating growth scenarios with a 10% increase in total demand. Results highlight the bioeconomy sector’s pivotal role in fostering economic growth and its capacity to support a sustainable economic transition. Specifically, the analysis reveals a production expansion effect of approximately 9% across bio-based and non-bio-based activities and underscores the strategic linkages within an economy heavily reliant on natural resources, such as Colombia. The study provides a robust foundation for future research integrating environmental and social dimensions and offers valuable insights to inform public policies aimed at advancing the bioeconomy and promoting sustainable practices.</p>
