<p>This study examines the factors associated with public trust in order institutions in Nigeria, with a particular focus on media exposure, perceived institutional corruption, and in-group and out-group trust. Using ordinary least squares regression analysis, the findings reveal that perceived institutional corruption significantly undermines public trust in order institutions, whereas out-group trust is positively associated with citizens’ trust in order institutions. Additionally, media exposure is found to be negatively associated with trust in order institutions. Overall, the results underscore the importance of addressing corruption, strengthening out-group trust, and improving order institutions engagement with the media to enhance public trust. These findings have important implications for criminal justice reform and democratic governance in Nigeria.</p>
