Digital transformation and sustainable business Performance: a bibliometric study
摘要
This study examines the connection between sustainable business performance and digital transformation (DT), emphasizing the vital role that technology and information systems play in the performance of contemporary organizations. Businesses are using DT more frequently as a result of its quick evolution to increase customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and the development of creative business models. This review highlights important research trends and themes in the domains of sustainability and digitization by synthesizing results from a bibliometric examination of 569 journal articles published between 1986 and 2025. The Triple Ps (People, Profit, and Planet) are increasingly acknowledged as crucial elements of sustainable management when companies apply DT. Companies can enhance efficiency, transparency, and collaboration by integrating digital technologies, which ultimately leads to better sustainability outcomes. This review revealed fluctuations in the number of articles published until 2016, as an increase was noticed from 2017 onwards. The review also shows that a greater number of publications in terms of institutions do not necessarily tally with countries with a greater number of published works in the areas of DT and business performance. Adopting DT is becoming increasingly necessary for companies that desire to thrive in a sustainable future. Although there are positive correlations between DT and sustainable business outcomes, there are still differing opinions about implementation challenges. This review highlights the need for more research to explain these relationships and direct future investigations in the fields of DT and sustainable business practices.
