Cyber social relationships under threat: a case study of cyberbullying adversities in Indian education and family environment
摘要
Harassment in Indian educational and family institutions, particularly cyberbullying, is a significant issue impacting students, parents, faculty, and the wider community. This case study explores the effects of cyberbullying in education as well as family, highlighting the increase in online harassment due to the rise of digital platforms. The research reveals the serious consequences of cyberbullying, including declining academic performance, mental health issues, and strained relationships, emphasizing the need for comprehensive policies, awareness programs, and preventive measures. Surveys conducted as part of the study gather insights into the prevalence of cyberbullying and the factors contributing to it among youth, offering effective intervention strategies. Using a mixed-methods approach, data was collected through survey questionnaires, interviews, and case studies, analyzing experiences, institutional policies, and family responses. Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) and Griffiths’ & Cao Juan’s metrics were applied to uncover major themes in student suggestions and people’s perspectives. The findings highlight the impact of cyberbullying, online harassment, misinformation, and privacy breaches on personal relationships in India. This study highlights the need for comprehensive digital safety policies, cyber awareness programs, and stronger family engagement in online education. Recommendations include enhancing school/college-based cyber ethics education, improving cyber law enforcement in educational settings, and fostering open communication between parents and children. The research contributes to policy development and educational reforms, ensuring a safer and more supportive digital environment for students and families in India.
