<p>Higher education institutions are embedded within distinct cultural and pedagogical contexts that shape teaching, learning, and intercultural engagement. This study examines the academic experiences of exchange students participating in international programs at Hochschule Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences (HSD) in Germany and the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Ghana. Employing a qualitative methodology, the research utilized in-depth interviews and participant observations to explore how students navigate and adapt to the contrasting institutional and cultural dynamics of these universities. The findings highlight the complexities of intercultural communication and pedagogical adaptation, revealing the challenges and opportunities inherent in cross-cultural academic environments. Key themes include the significance of cultural awareness, institutional inclusivity, and adaptive learning strategies in fostering equitable educational experiences. The study offers practical recommendations for policy and practice to enhance the integration and support of diverse student populations in international exchange programs.</p>
