<p>In this paper, a modified Social Judgment Theory (SJT) model with continuous interaction between assimilation and repulsion mechanisms is proposed to study opinion evolution, interactions, and the behaviors of individuals. Genarally, in the SJT model, opinion exchanges occur only when the difference in opinion between two randomly selected agents is smaller than the assimilation threshold or larger than the repulsion threshold. By introducing new interaction mechanism, in our model, all individuals can affect each other based on the difference in opinion between them. The simulation results demonstrate that the distributions of two parameters (i.e., assimilation threshold and repulsion threshold) have a great effect on the opinion evolution. Furthermore, when the initial fraction of positive opinions is smaller than 0.5, though the assimilation effect dominates the opinion evolution, the agents’ opinions do not end up with a consensus.</p>
