<p>The Industrial Revolution occurred between approximately 1700 and 1900, with its origins in England. It coincided with and fueled many ground-breaking scientific innovations. However, historians have suggested that the Scots made a disproportionate contribution to this process, both in terms of technical and broader scientific innovation. Drawing on an already-published convergent bibliographical analysis of technological accomplishment, we test whether this is the case. We find that the Scots indeed made a more significant contribution than the English to the Industrial Revolution and its surrounding scientific accomplishments.</p>
