<p>Mādhava’s <i>Lagnaprakaraṇa</i> is an important astronomical text which discusses numerous innovative techniques of precisely determining the <i>udayalagna</i> or the ascendant. In previous papers, we have explained the significance of various astronomical parameters discussed in the first chapter of this text, and detailed the different methods of precisely determining the ascendant described in its second, third and fifth chapters. In this paper, we present the translation and mathematical analysis of the fourth chapter of the <i>Lagnaprakaraṇa</i>, which prescribes a procedure for precisely determining the ascendant, employing concepts such as <i>samalagna</i>, <i>samaśaṅku</i> and <i>samadṛggati</i>.</p>

摘要

Mādhava’s Lagnaprakaraṇa is an important astronomical text which discusses numerous innovative techniques of precisely determining the udayalagna or the ascendant.
