<p>In this article, we highlight the profound importance of comprehending the psychological, societal, cultural, political, ethical, and environmental implications associated with the ongoing advancements in materials and associated technology. The advancements in materials science and the development of smart materials, intelligent materials, and responsive materials have surpassed the imagination of science fiction novels and become indispensable in human life, particularly in healthcare and electronics. Furthermore, current research efforts have been going on, hybridizing living micro-entities with high-performing non-living materials, creating a concept of living materials for self-replenishing therapeutic agents, self-healing implants, enzymatically-driven sensors, and self-healing building materials.However, the long-term implications of such interfaces between humans and materials become crucial, as we have a tendency to become reliant on our inventions, blurring the boundary between users and gadgets. Especially when materials possess inherent lifelike properties and intelligence, it is imperative that we analyze the future and long-term implications of material advancements. This article also tries to initiate another approach to thinking: are we ready to accept these smart, intelligent, responsive, and living materials in our lives? If the answer is yes, then is there any boundary, or what is the level of acceptance in an individual’s life for such materials?</p>
