Design and characterization of an earbud-shaped wideband metamaterial absorber for electronic warfare
摘要
A novel Ear-bud shaped resonator multi-band, exceptional absorption MTM is designed and analysed for electronic warfare and military applications. Ear-bud shaped resonator has been designed to obtain outstanding absorption. Proposed metamaterial absorber is imprinted on the top layer of the double side copper coated FR4 material of thickness 0.8 mm. Earbud shaped resonator offers greater than 90% absorption throughout the wide band and it offers bandwidth of 2 GHz (6 GHz-8 GHz). This is suitable for the frequency range of electronic warfare utilising the frequency band from 6 to 8 GHz. Ear-bud shaped resonator metamaterial unit cell occupies an area of 0.353 λ0 × 0.412 λ0 with 0.013 λ0 thickness. Absorption mechanism of the metamaterial is explained in terms of normalised input impedance, surface current distributions. Characteristics of the metamaterial is presented in terms of permeability, permittivity and refractive index. In order to measure the metamaterial experimentally, it has been manufactured by using chemical etching and the results are measured by using Anechoic Chamber. Close relation amongst the simulated and experimental results has been observed and these results make the absorber suitable for electronic warfare and military applications.
