<p>Jammu and Kashmir (J&amp;K), a Union Territory (UT) shaped by complex geographical, economic, and political challenges, offers unique potential for economic growth through its rich biodiversity. The region holds promise in leveraging Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) to build a sustainable bio-economy. This paper examines the economic significance of NTFPs, highlighting their potential to promote growth, reduce economic disparities, and promote ecological preservation. It also analyses the role of innovation, entrepreneurship and policy in addressing key barriers such as poor market access, dependence on intermediaries, and governance challenges. Policy recommendations are provided to enhance market linkages, promote sustainable harvesting, and support local innovations.</p>
