<p>Community violence is best addressed with community-centered interventions and community-driven implementation strategies. Shortfalls remain in understanding this approach, given the complex structures and adaptation needed to meet varying contexts while maintaining program effectiveness. Implementation science can illuminate the delivery of community-level violence prevention interventions and, in turn, gain lessons from community-focused work. This case study (1) describes the setting in which a community violence prevention initiative was delivered and (2) assesses the applicability of implementation science frameworks in understanding development and implementation of a community organizing implementation strategy. Multiple frameworks (the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research, the Practical Robust Implementation and Sustainability Model, and the Adverse Community Experiences and Resilience Framework) guided design, implementation, and assessment of a community-focused implementation strategy. Data sources include interviews and focus groups with community members, as well as program meeting minutes and training delivery data. Key themes identified included the role of the external environment, the importance of the organizational characteristics, the organizational perspective that relationships between local government and community were complementary, and the impacts of the changing implementation and sustainability infrastructure. In 18 months, six community organizing training sessions were delivered. Technical assistance was provided to training recipients through virtual meetings, telephone calls, and text messages. This study demonstrates how the application of implementation science frameworks in community-focused research can guide understanding of a community violence prevention initiative. Continued testing and evaluation are needed to determine the impact of community organizing in community-focused violence prevention interventions.</p>
